ENSEMBLE ROZETA

Music Meeting

Memory from a diary...

How lovely was yesterday's evening walk here in London! Thomas Britton, known as “the small coal-man”, invited us to one of his weekly music meetings.... They are very popular here in London!...

Ensemble Rozeta takes you through the foggy, dark streets of 18th century London to Thomas Brittons' home near Clerkenwell-green. Here, preparations are already underway for one of his music meetings.

The candlelight is flickering, the gentlemen are chatting comfortably over delicious wine and cake, Mr. Handel is already sitting at the harpsichord... The tension in the room rises - the concert begins... When the music of English masters such as Mr. Henry Simons, Johann Christoph Pepusch, Nicola Matteis and others fills the room, time seems to stand still for a moment...

...I was very pleased to get to know Mr. Britton. His joy and love of music are very tangible at his music meetings. Because this is the most valuable thing you can give to your fellow human beings... I wish there were more people like Thomas Britton in the world!
